Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website.

Although I gained a degree in Graphic Design, painting and drawing were always my first love. On leaving college I spent many years as a freelance illustrator producing work for advertising agencies and design groups. Sometime later I also became interested in carved wood as a medium and gradually turned towards sculpture.

Over the years I have been commissioned to create architectural models, trophies, advertising pieces and bespoke presentation pieces. From large walnut wall pieces to miniature carvings in dense and hard boxwood, I take great pleasure in pushing wood to its limits and creating unique and often unexpected things.

After a gap of many years, my love of painting was rekindled as a result of visiting the Royal Miniature Society Exhibition in 2013. For someone who had always painted in a traditional, realistic way – and often quite small – it was inspiring and gave me a new desire to start painting again. Although much of my work is now sculpture-based I do enjoy painting and will often combine the two. Pushing the boundaries and trying new ideas and subjects is, I think, essential to keep art fresh and interesting.

I was delighted to be awarded Associate Membership (ARMS) in 2015 and Full Membership (RMS) in 2017. In 2020, I was honoured to be elected President. I believe the RMS is still the foremost miniature art society in the world with some truly exceptional artists, but I also think we must not be complacent if we are to thrive; to look to the future and not just the past.
